Coffee. Mastered.

These were two concepts for brand, Ueshima Coffee. Ueshima being the inventor and visionary for Japanese coffee, since his first store opened in 1933 (Kobe, Japan), over the decades his work has been continued through Ueshima Coffee Co. who have been recognised as the no.1 coffee provider in the country. They now wanted to take this to the UK market and beyond. Our routes took on two journeys, the first: A progressive approach which captures the very essence of the coffee itself, using abstract and fluid shapes to mimic taste, texture and experience. The second: uses inspiration from Kanji (漢字), one of the oldest Japanese scripts, and how it’s symbolic nature can be used to de-construct and re-create to represent Ueshima’s scientific approach to his product. Both routes I am so incredibly proud of, and grateful for such an amazing experience.
